Ken West Joins Ryan Law Firm, PLLC as Partner

Ryan Law Firm, PLLC (“Ryan Law”) announced today that Ken West has joined the Firm’s multi-jurisdictional litigation practice. Based at the firm’s Washington, D.C. Metro office, Ken will continue to represent clients across the United States and Canada in a variety of highly technical federal, state, and local tax controversies.

Formerly a shareholder and managing partner of a boutique Canadian property tax firm, Ken has successfully led trial teams to multi-million-dollar trial verdicts and mediated settlements. Recently, he was Of Counsel for an AmLaw 200 law firm with a national property tax practice.

He will be a tremendous asset as we continue our rapid international expansion.
Ken’s clients include multi-family housing, heavy industrial and manufacturing, restaurants and retail, hotels, gambling facilities, office buildings, and golf courses. He is also a Certified Specialist in civil litigation from the Law Society of Ontario. The Certified Specialist designation recognizes members of the Ontario Law Society who have met standards of experience and knowledge requirements in one or more areas of law, as well as have maintained exemplary standards of professionalism.

Ken is a frequent speaker at professional development seminars and tax related events around the world, and he is the Vice-President of the National Association of Property Tax Attorneys and the former President of the Ontario Property Tax Lawyers Association. Ken is active in the American Bar Association State and Local Tax Sub-Committee and the Institute for Professionals in Taxation. He also sits on the Washington, D.C. Bar’s Global Legal Services Committee.

Among his educational accolades, Ken received his Juris Doctorate (JD) from Michigan State University and a Master of Laws in Tax (LLM) from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto. Additionally, he holds legal education certificates from Georgetown Law Center, Harvard Law School, and The Institute of Art and Law.

Ken is licensed to practice in Florida, Maryland, New York, Washington D.C., and Ontario (Board Certified in Civil Litigation 2014-2020).
