DAVID HUGIN JOINS RYAN LAW FIRM AS PARTNER

AUSTIN, Texas – Ryan Law Firm, LLP, a leading tax litigation practice, announced today that David Hugin has joined the firm as Partner in its Austin office to represent the firm’s clients in complex federal, state, and local tax litigation nationally.

“David is a highly accomplished lawyer with demonstrated success in litigating some of the most complex, high-stake property tax cases in numerous jurisdictions throughout the country,” said Ryan Law Firm Founder and Managing Partner Kory Ryan. “His skills and expertise at the trial and appellate levels will bring additional depth to our firm’s ability to assist our clients in navigating the complexities of these cases.”

Hugin, who has been practicing law for more than 25 years, joins Ryan Law Firm from Rosas Hugin, where he served as managing member for four years. For the past 15 years, he has focused exclusively on representing property owners in ad valorem property tax litigation. Recognized as one of the top tax litigators in Texas, Hugin has tried some of the most high-profile property tax cases to successful outcomes, both to the bench and in jury trials. Additionally, he has litigated as counsel pro hac vice in other states, including New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Virginia. Prior to devoting his time to property tax litigation, Hugin was a successful commercial litigator and shareholder of a large national law firm. He also clerked for Justice John Cornyn at the Supreme Court of Texas.

An authority in complex property tax litigation, Hugin has been an expert resource for CNN Money, Inc. magazine, and the Austin American-Statesman. Additionally, he has authored the “Commercial Litigation” chapter in the second edition of the International Law Section of the State Bar of Texas’ Doing Business in Texas, and the “Prosecuting a Property Tax Appeal” chapter in the Institute for Professionals in Taxation’s fourth edition of Property Taxation.

Hugin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology from The University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctor degree from The University of Texas School of Law, where he served as an associate editor of the Texas Law Review.
