Highlighting Jay Spring: Ryan Law Firm, PLLC

Ryan Law Firm, PLLC (“Ryan Law”) is proud to highlight Jay Spring, based out of the firm’s Dallas office. Jay concentrates his practice on the representation of taxpayers involved in ad valorem property tax litigation at the state and local levels throughout Texas and Louisiana.
Prior to joining the firm, Jay worked for several years as a litigation associate at a regional litigation boutique where he handled a variety of matters ranging from complex commercial litigation to insurance coverage to professional malpractice and beyond. Jay served as an extern to Judge Catharina Haynes of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and to Justice Elizabeth Lang-Miers of the Texas Fifth Court of Appeals.
In 2022, the State Bar of Texas and the Texas Bar College awarded Jay the Steven G. Condos Award for Outstanding New Member to the College. Jay served as an Associate of the Patrick E. Higginbotham American Inn of Court from 2019 to 2022.
When he isn’t fighting for his clients, Jay volunteers his time to teach litigation and trial advocacy skills for the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law’s mock trial program. As one of SMU’s designated “prestige” teams, Jay’s students represent SMU in competitions all over the country.
Jay is actively involved in the legal community. Since 2020, he has served in various capacities on the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers’ Bolton Ball Committee, which produces one of the Dallas legal community’s premiere charity fundraisers. He publishes frequently on a variety of legal topics, with his work being published everywhere from law reviews to bar association publications to State Bar materials.
Outside of the legal field, Jay is a great supporter of the arts. He currently serves as President-Elect of the Dallas Theater Center Guild’s board of directors and will serve a two-year term as President from 2023-2025.
